The Story of the Mermaid’s Tune
In Galapagos, on Isabela Island’s serene shores, a man enchanted crowds with his melodies at a beachside bar’s happy hour. One evening, a spirited woman approached, demanding, “Teach me guitar, and craft a song about a mermaid torn between love and the sea.” Intrigued, he agreed, and their lessons began in hammocks by the shore. Days passed, each day with the promise of the song ‘mañana’ or tomorrow. With four chords mastered, she boldly decided to write the song herself. But he intervened, suggesting they collaborate. Together, they sat on a balcony overlooking the Pacific, weaving the mermaid’s tale into a harmonious melody that resonated with the island’s enchanting spirit.
This song has journeyed long and far. It was debuted on the white sands beach of Isabela, in front of a sailor, written on a nearby balcony. It was dreamed up under the moon, walking on the beach, added upon and expanded bit by bit, until the music and the words flowed from the universe onto a faded yellow legal pad. It has healed broken hearts, made people laugh and cry, been requested over and over with children singing and dancing in the aisles; watching as two hearts fell in love and became one. It became an art project, then it became reality. And now it is a movie and a song, ready to be shared again with the world.
This song is for healing. This song is for loving. This song is for fun.
This song is an anthem for the independent woman, whispering into her ear, “I have a message from your soul – you are a luminous light being and you deserve to live a life you love living.”
